Sad news for Raider Nation today. WR Chaz Schilens has suffered yet another setback. Schilens is a talented, smooth pass-catcher who has transitioned from a 7th round pick out of San Diego State into the Raiders #1 wide receiver.
Last year during training camp, he broke his fifth metatarsal bone in his foot in a freak accident (literally Schilens was just running around). The injury plagued him all year, including this off-season.
Now what happens? “Coach Tom Cable told reporters…Schilens may need an arthroscopic procedure on his knee.”
Not good to say the least. If Schilens is plagued with injuries this season, the Raiders are left with Darrius Heyward-Bey and Louis Murphy, two extremely young and raw players, as their starters, with Johnnie Lee Higgins and Jacoby Ford as the reserves. With a questionable offensive line, Jason Campbell would have his work cut out for himself.
